Everybody says Rank IX is expensive. Now I wanted to check it on my own.

As some of you already know, my main is a Barbarian. So I of course compared a TT99 Heavy Armor and Rank IX. But it should be almost the same for other classes. All TT99 sets require the same items. Only price changes can be the souledges.

Conditions of the calculation:
  • Items are bought, if you farm them, it will get cheaper (probably)
  • Also Souledges are bought, or at least the item to decompose to the souledge
  • Instead of a Ring, I choosed the TT99 Necklace
  • All armor parts have 4 sockets and weapon has 2 sockets (Rank IX has it automatically)
  • Stats of armor/weapon are not considered.
  • Prices are average prices from auction house or catshops (Date: 18.Oct. 2011)

Here is the result:

TT99 = 326.610.000 coins

Rank IX = 2.187.500.000 coins

What I calculated:

TT99 - Lionheart
  • Plate
  • Leggings
  • Boots
  • Arms
  • Necklace
  • Belt
  • Socket Stones (to get full sockets)
Rank IX
  • Plate
  • Leggings
  • Boots
  • Arms
  • Ring
  • Belt
  • 300.000 Reputation

So basicly both times a full set with 6 parts plus 1 extra. If you don't want the Necklace for example, the end price will be lower. Or you don't want the full sockets on the TT99 ( = 136.400.000 coins), you can safe money and invest it somewhere else.

Here is the detailed calculation in different file formats:

My résumé:
Both are Armor-Sets are pretty nice. If you look for a cheaper version, take TT. If you have money and don't care, take Rank. If you look at the stats, of course rank is a bit better. But if you choose TT you can also invest money to reduce the differences. For example: TT99 + 16 Vitstones (Vit+10) + some refinements (I think +10 should be doable) = still lower than rank.
Of course this calculation only works with momentary situation (October 2011). If PWI decides to open ways to get MoG cheaper, this calculation must be refreshed. At that time (creation of that post) the only ways to get MoG are Boutique (if there is a sale) and TW.

If there are any questions, just post them.

Hope it gives a small overview and helped a bit. For me it did. :tiger044:
